The time has come for Conservatives and like-minded Independents to secede from their respective parties and join the Conservative Party of the United States of America.
The National Republican Party has consistently failed to uphold conservative principles on so many levels since Ronald Reagan that it can no longer be considered a legitimate representative of traditional American conservative values. That is also true for most Utah State Republicans. While Utah is known as a “Red” state, with the state Republicans dominating the Utah political landscape for decades, many Republican office holders are far from being conservative. The American Conservative Union ranks Utah’s legislature as the 23rd most conservative state on their 2016 survey of state legislatures. Utah is just behind the “conservative” stalwart state of New Hampshire (A New England state rates ahead of a western state like Utah?), and just of ahead of Wisconsin. That rating is reflective of a moderately governed state, and it is certainly reflective of Utah office holders. It is certainly NOT reflective of the conservatism of the state population as a whole. A 2014 Gallup poll ranked Utah’s populace as the 4th most conservative in the nation. There is a clear shortcoming between the conservative tendencies of the people of Utah, and their elected representatives who belong to the Republican Party of Utah. The Conservative Party of Utah rectifies that shortcoming.
